Need a new wardrobe

Ubuntu has a strong emphasis on the colour brown. Prior to using Ubuntu, I don’t think I owned any brown clothes, and didn’t particularly like the colour. However, I’m increasingly aware that my wardrobe has a prominent focus on brown. I have a feeling that my wardrobe needs replacing.

New LTS release

I am writing this blog post on behalf of the release manager, as she has been frantically working through the night to ensure the latest version is released as intended.
It is with great pleasure that the Walker household can announce, following 9 months of development, our second LTS release; codenamed “Babbling Boy”. This LTS [...]

Call For Testing – Asterisk (1.6)

A little later than intended, i’m pleased to announce Asterisk 1.6 is in Ubuntu Karmic (9.10). There is also the transition from Zaptel to DAHDI. Whilst it is largely a drop in replacement (due to trademark violation), there are some changes which are documented here, it should be quite painless.
One of the reasons [...]

Cloud Expo Europe – 20th-21st May – London

There is an exciting expo happening next week. It’s the Cloud Expo Europe 2009, in London and it’s FREE if you pre-register.
Now we’ve all heard of the term cloud (in the computing sense), but I suspect many don’t really know what it involves. So this is your chance to find out.
As with many [...]

Unlikely long distance [push bike] rider.

Chris Dakin is possibly one of the more unlikely candidates i’d imagine to be doing a mammoth push bike ride from London to Paris.
This chap isn’t someone i’ve seen to be especially athletic nor a ’spring chicken’ (i’m sure he’ll love me for saying that) -- which makes him quite unlikely to choose to ride [...]

The Ubuntu-UK community took part in the Ubuntu Projects global effort of having a combined effort of working on bugs, and showing others how to work on Ubuntu to make it better, done in tandem with many countries around the world concurrently.
This was our first effort of having an event like this, and it was [...]

[Warning] Don’t eat yellow snow.

If you see yellow snow, no matter how free or appetising, don’t eat it.
As you can guess, most of the UK has been getting snow this week. As ever, we’ve practically come to a halt – with an estimated 25% of employees staying at home, doodling in the snow.
